Chris Titchner’s new release, “Already Gone”, combines catchy songwriting with a complete disregard of stylisitic homogeny. Folk, pop, New Orleans jazz…they all coexist on an album anchored by Titchner’s consistent acoustic guitar work, ear-grabbing lyrics, and solid vocals.
The result is a focus on the song itself. This isn’t a guitar album per se, or a “folk” album, or a personality-driven album – it’s simply an album of good songs.

If there’s a consistent style that ties together the disparate themes, it’s a loose, quirky, 1990’s, Counting Crows, acoustic-guitar-band vibe.
And if, like me, you were an active music listener in the 90’s, then Titchner’s songwriting style has a nostalgic comfort to it. A throwback to a time when a good song, played on a guitar and sung from the heart, could simultaneously top the charts and speak truth to the ache and anxiety of the modern heart.
